Absence Make-Up Policy 2009-2010
posted on: 08/18/09 @ 10:42am
When a student is absent it is his/her responsibility to make up any notes immediately and to check my teacher page at cohs.com to find out about any quizzes, tests, homework, cold readings, open book tests, labs or lab reports EVERY day he/she is absent. When work is missed it will be recorded as a zero on Grade Connect until make-up. If work is not made up within what I determine to be a reasonable amount of time then a zero will be recorded for that grade.
Students MUST report to room 336 either before or during homeroom on the FIRST day of their return to school to make up any missed quizzes or tests and/or to turn in any missed homework, cold readings, open book tests, or lab responses.
It is the STUDENT'S responsibility to know what he/she owes me. He/she should have checked the teacher page to find this information EVERY day he/she was absent. Failure to do so will result in a zero for any missed work and loss of homework points.
Fear of being late to homeroom is NOT an excuse for failing to meet this obligation. I can write the student a pass. The student also has the option of reporting to homeroom and then immediately asking his/her teacher to write him/her a pass to report to room 336.
I am available for make-up work EVERY morning starting at 7:15 through the end of homeroom in room 336.
Work CANNOT be made up during class time. Absence is NOT an excuse for being unprepared. Computer failure or printer failure is NOT an excuse for being unprepared.
If a test is missed during an absence then the student will have to take an essay test as make up.
