Newspaper Meetings

There will be 2 newspaper meetings this week. The first will be Tuesday, January 12 and the second on Thursday, January 14 to discuss the February issue. If you cannot make one meeting, please try to make the other. If you cannot make either meeting, please email any article ideas to theoherald at gmail.com.

The next meeting for the O'Herald will be Thursday, January 7th after 7th and 8th periods in the Newspaper Office. We will be discussing the February issue and future newspaper meeting dates.

Hallmark Virus

-- HALLMARK E-CARD VIRUS --
This Hallmark E-Card is a huge virus going around right now that tricks you into downloading a 'hallmark e-card from a friend.' What it really does is implant a virus into your computer called a Trojan (called so because it gains entry by disguising itself as something harmless.) Once in there, a red X will appear in the lower right hand corner of your computer with a yellow pop-up that says "Your Computer Is Infected. Click here to download AntiSpyware 2009."
THIS IS A FAKE PROGRAM
Once this program is installed (if you allow the process to run it's course), your computer is then infected with a plethora of spyware which will slow it down and may be able to cause other computers on the school network to become infected. If you have accidentally opened this e-mail already and are experiencing these symptoms, come see me with your computer immediately.
If you have not downloaded it, be aware, anything that comes to your e-mail with the subject "Hallmark E-Card" or any variant should be deleted immediately. Delete it from your Inbox and then make sure to delete it out of the 'Deleted Items' Folder. If you need assistance with this, please let me know.
Please note that unless you know the sender who is sending an e-mail personally, it is never a good idea to download any attachment from them...especially ones that need to be installed.
